LEARN IRISH GUITAR
Peadar Hickey is taking on new students of all ages for online classes including an introduction to Irish guitar and an intermediate class in Irish guitar. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been strumming for years, Peadar will take you into the world of Irish traditional music using that old six-string in the corner of your living room. Students will be introduced to traditional Irish tunes and learn how to play along on guitar. With the guitar being such a versatile instrument, students can explore melody, chord patterns, Irish ballad accompaniment and even learn a personal favourite hit song of any genre.
YOUR TEACHER
Before becoming a professional musician, Peadar Hickey spent six years as a primary school teacher in Dublin, Ireland. He moved to New York in 2010 and a career in music quickly took off. Having previously served his musical apprenticeship as a balladeer in the famed public houses of Temple Bar in Dublin city, Peadar began appearing nightly on stage in the Irish venues around New York and has held music residencies in several of those venues ever since. In 2011, the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan hired Peadar as the guitar teacher in their education department. As well as entertaining Times Square crowds and teaching at the IAC, Peadar has toured the entire USA performing at some of the country’s largest Irish festivals both as a solo act and with many notable Irish traditional bands. In 2016, Peadar also performed for the President of The United States in Washington DC on St Patrick Day as a member of Derek Warfield's band. These online classes are an opportunity to use Peadar’s experience in teaching and performing music to get your guitar playing where you want it to be.
